On Friday, Keeneland will kick off their prestigious fall meet and unveil their new dirt racing surface which was installed this summer to replace their previous synthetic main track. The $200,000 Phoenix Stakes is the first stakes race of the season and the six-furlong contest has drawn a field of eight. 
Annually ranked as one of the best racing meets in the country by the Horse Players’ Association of North America (HANA), the Keeneland fall meet begins Friday, October 3 in Lexington, KY featuring nine graded stakes races in the opening weekend alone. 
The Grade 1 $600,000 Turf Classic Invitational September 27 at Belmont may very well be the most competitive race on a card that features five grade 1 races and a grade 2. 
The state-bred breeding program in New York will take center stage on Sunday at Belmont Park with the 21st edition of the $150,000 Bertram F. Bongard Stakes. Restricted to two-year-olds bred in New York, the seven-furlong contest has drawn a field of six. 
On Saturday at Woodbine, ten fillies and mares will vie for an automatic berth into the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf in the 60th edition of the Canadian Stakes. The Grade 2 contest offers a purse of $300,000 and will be run at a mile and an eighth on the turf. 
The stellar lineup of stakes action continues September 13 at Kentucky Downs with the track’s second and final Saturday card of the meet which includes the $200,000 More Than Ready for three year-olds and upward going a mile on the turf. 
On Saturday at Churchill Downs, the featured race is the 46th running of the $200,000 Pocahontas Stakes. The Grade 2 race for two-year-old fillies will be run at a mile and a sixteenth and has attracted a field of ten. 
The $600,000 mile and an eighth grade I Woodward Stakes at Saratoga August 30 is headlined by Whitney winner Moreno taking on eight rivals in what figures to be a superb betting race. 
Graded stakes action at Saratoga August 23 kicks off with the 26th running of the Grade II $250,000 Ballston Spa run at a mile and a sixteenth on the inner turf course for fillies and mares
