On Wednesday, Aqueduct will open with the $200,000 Tempted Stakes. Restricted to two-year-old fillies, the Grade 2 event will be run at one mile on the main track and has drawn a field of six.
Welcoming headlines the field as the morning line favorite at odds of 2-1 for trainer Christophe Clement. Purchased for $520,000 as a yearling, the gray filly is by top stallion Tapit and will be trying to earn her first stakes victory. After a fifth-place finish in her debut, she improved to second in her next start and broke through and broke her maiden last time out. Joel Rosario will be aboard and they will break from post position two.
Big World looking for second straight victory
Second choice at morning line odds of 5-2 is Big World for trainer Anthony Dutrow. A bay daughter of Custom for Carlos, she has been on the board in all three starts and was purchased for $98,000 as a yearling. She finished third in her first two starts and broke her maiden last time out at Saratoga as the favorite. Irad Ortiz, Jr. will be back aboard and they will break from post position four.
Banree heading back in the right direction
Also in the field at morning line odds of 4-1 is Banree for trainer Wesley Ward. A gray daughter of Macho Uno, she has won two of her five career starts. After breaking her maiden at first asking, she had three starts against stakes company and was second in the Schuylerville Stakes (G3). After a poor effort in the Spinaway Stakes (G1), she rebounded to win an allowance race last time out and will break from the outside under Rafael Hernandez.
