Fillies in Good Form for $85,000 Ellen's Lucky Star
At 7/5 on the morning line, Comforter looks to be well-spotted by trainer Paul Holthus. A daughter of Nobiz Like Shobiz, Comforter has recorded 4 wins in 10 career starts for earnings of $151,560, and has been a model of consistency with just a single off-the-board finish. Comforter enters the Ellen’s Lucky Star off consecutive allowance scores at Indiana Grand and finished second in the Stormy Blue Stakes April 18 at Pimlico in her last stakes try. Veteran jockey Rodney Prescott will take the mount breaking from post four.
Lady Fog Horn looks for third straight
Lady Fog Horn (3/1), also enters the race off back-to-back allowance wins, and appears to be the main danger to Comforter. In nine career starts, Lady Fog Horn has found the winner’s circle four times, including her June 6 allowance tally at Indiana Grand after nearly four months on the bench. Prior to that effort, Lady Fog Horn defeated allowance foes at Tampa Downs February 26. Albin Jimenez will ride breaking from the rail.
Heart's Song outclasses foes
Heart’s Song (5/2), ran third in the Grade 2 Golden Rod Stakes as a two year-old, and returned June 18 at Churchill after nearly six months on the bench to win an allowance race at Churchill Downs. The William Connelly-trainee is clearly the class of the field and will be tough to deny.
