On Saturday at Woodbine, two-year-olds will take center stage in the $125,000 Frost King Stakes. The seven-furlong contest has drawn a field nine colts and geldings, all sired by an Ontario-based stallion.
Goodoldhockeygame has been tabbed as the 5-2 morning line favorite for trainer Robert Tiller. Bred and owned by Frank Di Giulio, Jr., the two-year-old gelded son of Old Forester is a perfect two for two over Woodbine’s synthetic main track. After breaking his maiden at first asking as the favorite, he defeated restricted stakes company last time out. Patrick Husbands will remain aboard and they will break from post five.
Seffeara a consistent and experienced contender
Second choice at 3-1 on the morning line is Seffeara who is also sired by Old Forester. Trained by Steve Owens, the bay gelding has raced four times and has two wins to his credit including a victory in the Clarendon Stakes. Since that win, he has been second and third against local stakes competition and has been favored in all four starts. Regular rider Gary Boulanger will be aboard and they will break from post position three.
Executive One making stakes debut after maiden score
Also in the field at odds of 7-2 on the morning line is Executive One for trainer Ralph Biamonte. A juvenile son of Bold Executive, the dark bay gelding will be trying winners for the first time after breaking his maiden by a head in his second career start. He finished second to Knowitall, who is also in this race, in his career debut. He has been training steadily since his maiden win and will have Eurico Da Silva aboard from post six.
