10 Juveniles Chase $1 Million Purse in Delta Jackpot
Aside from the Breeders Cup Juvenile, the Grade 3, $1 Million Delta Jackpot is the richest race for two year-olds in the United States. The 2015 renewal features a field of ten set to contest the mile and one sixteenth event at Delta Downs Saturday, November 21.
2/1 morning line favorite Exaggerator finished a fine fourth in the Grade 1 BC Juvenile October 31 at Keeneland, and also managed to finish second in the Grade Breeders’ Futurity. Trained by Keith Desormeaux, Exaggerator broke his maiden in his second career start and quickly proved his class by winning the Grade 2 Saratoga Special Stakes August 16. The precocious son of Curlin will break from post 9 with Desormeaux’s brother Kent in the irons.
Sunny Ridge looks for big score
Sunny Ridge, the New Jersey-bred son of Holy Bull, will break from post 3 as the 7/2 second choice on the morning line. The Jason Servis trainee has recorded two wins in four starts, and finished second in the Grade 1 Champagne Stakes October 3 at Belmont. Jockey Irad Ortiz will take the mount as the pair look to add substantial winnings to the colt’s career bankroll which currently stands at $194,752.
Stall with horse-for-course
Louisiana native Al Stall returns to his home state to saddle 4/1 choice Forevamo, a son of 2010 Juvenile Champion Uncle Mo. Forevamo has just a single win in three starts, but made it count with a last-out stakes win in the Jean Lafitte October 24 at Delta while still a maiden.
